I work with a combination of mixed media for many of my illustrations but every now and then, it’s fun just using my original favourite- felt tip pen. Enamel paint is perfect for creating super-shiny blobs and flat, slippery surfaces. Metallic pens illuminate detail and light up drawings like little fairy lights. Infusing images of plants and flowers from vintage gardening books, enrich the visual tapestry growing throughout the illustration and add depth of tone and texture. Gouache and copic marker allow for a rich build-up of colours and experiments with washes and layers of hard opacity.

Wooden Dolls was shortlisted for the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery’s National Works on Paper 2012. It also made an appearance in The Age, Arts and Entertainment section.
