Creating portraits of people that are really precious to me has always been interesting, presenting a way for me to fuse subjectivity with objectivity. The love and admiration felt for that person and the history between us, paired with the clear, observant eye of the artist, trying to record the details in the subjects face and translate the knowledge of their character onto the page.

If I want a realistic portrait I will use photos as my main reference but drawing friends and family as they move around in their daily lives is a fabulously challenging way of drawing and allows me to produce loose, bolder styles of work.
